My First Look At WordPress 2.9.

A very short time has been remaining for the latest WordPress 2.9 to be out. There are a lot of new features appeared in this version. The full list of new features is available here at, http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_2.9

Though the latest stable version isn’t out for the public, the beta is out. It was today that I installed WordPress 2.9 Beta (2). Till now I haven’t seen any problems with it.

Blogging Junction is currently using WordPress 2.9 Beta (2) and I am writing this post using it. The new WordPress is full of new and great and awesome features.

Some of them are,

1.) Image Editor.

2.) Post Thumbnail Feature.

3.) Content (Post, Page, Comment, Media Library Items) Trash Status.

4.) Many Other Small Required Updates Are Made Which Can Be Seen At http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_2.9

1.) IMAGE EDITOR:

The best feature implemented is of Image Editor. Now the latest WordPress 2.9 offers a simple basic image editor.

We can edit our images basically or for small changes that are required such as rotating image, crop image, resize image and many more.

Cropping and other basic editing works can be done inside the browser! Cropping can help removing unnecessary image parts.

Image can be inverted or flipped inside the browser!

2.) Content (Post, Page, Comment, Media Library Items) Trash Status.

Posts, page, comments, media library items can be moved to “Trash Bin” just like the “Recycle Bin” in Windows computers.

An item moved to trash can be either deleted permanently or can be restored safely. This proves to be a good option that can save you from mistakenly deleted posts.

3.) Thumbnail Feature.

Every post has separate thumbnail image attribute now in WordPress 2.9. This feature is very good for themes using automatic image of a common or same size at the homepage. But this image can be only shown using a set of php code.
