If you want to get more followers on Twitter to promote your company or just for the pure thrill of it, you have to wade through many of the so-called “proven methods” out there to see which techniques really work.
There are quite a few people out there that have a following on Twitter because they are already well known or famous, but for the average Twitter user, you still have the potential to get a following based on how you use this website:
- Drive Traffic: If you want to get more followers, you have to treat Twitter like any other website and drive traffic to it to get more followers. You can organize a contest on your blog to have people follow you on Twitter to enter, you can include your Twitter profile in your e-mail signature, and you can also connect all other profiles and your blog to your Twitter profile.
The point is that if you truly want more followers on Twitter, you have to get it exposure in other venues to attract people to you.
- Follow the Masses: What many spammers like to do is follow as many people as they can on Twitter to see if people will follow them back. However, many Twitter users are now aware of these spamming methods, although this technique may work to get newer Twitter users to follow you back in reciprocation.
- Provide Interesting Content: One of the most tried and true ways to get people to follow you is by updating your followers with interesting articles or blogs that you have written. These are likely to be retweeted so that people in other Twitters circles will follow you as a result.
- Ask for Help: If you have a trusted friend with many Twitter followers, you may want to ask them to recommend you through their profile. This is only useful in genuine relationships, but someone you know may be happy to recommend you to their followers or exchange recommendations with you.

I’m glad you are not referring to any software or website that promises hundreds of followers by signing up. Well, I’ve tried following a lot of people and from a thousand, I only got about a hundred followers. So I’m leaving that method. I’ll try your other suggestions. Thanks!
Very cool these techniques, now twitter is an essential tool for digital marketing, not to mention also the site SEO, organic search and reference sites help much in sales of a company.
Twitter, and social media, is only as effective as your ability to provide useful info.
Unfortunately, I find the best way to get Twitter followers is just to be legitimately popular. This of course, takes a lot of time or a lot of luck.
I have a Twitter account and I have not paid much attention to it since my time is so tight, however I should really work this account more. As for spamming yeas I get that a lot from every angle.

Thank you for tips. I totally agree – people have to know about you so they can decide I they want or not to follow you on Twitter. That’s why I always put my Twitter ID at the end of the e-mails. It works.
