Hi Friends! Last week I started “Smashing Saturday” a service to bring front some of the posts in the world. This was to give credit to some of the useful posts of the web world. The main view behind starting that was to give my readers some good posts that they can read and enjoy.

This feature also helped the posts given in the list get back links which prove as a SEO benefit. This help to for the sites in the list displayed get traffic and increase their search ranks.

But yesterday while I was browsing through some of my posts, I saw a strange thing. Especially when I visited my Smashing Saturday –> 14th November 2009 post, I was surprised to see the links in the post. They had some different origin. They were displayed in the format http://www.bloggingjunction.com/goto/www.***.com. Where  *** stands for the website. At first I couldn’t understand, why was it in this way?

At the first moment itself I came to know that there is some WordPress Plugin problem. But this wasn’t the reason. There was no plugin problem but a plugin I used was designed for this purpose. This plugin automatically made external links originate from my blog.

I was shocked to see this! This way the links from Blogging Junction weren’t getting much SEO benefit. They were getting some traffic but no SEO benefits. In order for them to get some SEO benefits, I removed that plugin from Blogging Junction.

Sorry for this especially to those whose links had been in the Smashing Saturday –> 14th November 2009 post and all the commenters too. Mistake regretted.
