Facebook has changed the world and it shall perhaps be dived into the era “before facebook” and the era, “after facebook”. It is a game changer for socializing as well as marketing. It offers such a huge scope for advertisings and marketing simply because there are so many people out there, using the facebook services. These are your prospective clients and you need to go and get them. Here’s how you can do that:
1. Go To The Prospective Client
Facebook is a platform that helps you reach out to people. Now, we need to put efforts to reach out to people. We can’t just wait at our place and presume people will come to us.
You can reach your prospective clients through facebook messages, facebook ads, facebook pages etc. It’s quite important to keep in touch with people. Even directly asking people to spread the word about your work or to share a status may work. At the end of the day, you should reach more people.
Moreover, you can simply enhance your presence by concentrating on content. Give your users content that is shareable, likeable, enjoyable – and they will genuinely start passing it around. A conscious and strategic approach is, however, required.
2. Tell People You Are On Facebook
Even the most tech savvy people can sometimes be wooed by a simple message that reads “Like us on Facebook”. So why not do it?
Use the facebook icon on business cards, e-mailers, flyers, on your website etc. You could also include a link to your facebook page in your e-mail signature so that every time you send out an email, people on the other end can simply click and reach your facebook site. Popularity on social sites has been known to grow with such activities.
You can also come with specific publicity activities. Like, special offers for your facebook fans; letting them know that their presence matters. Being active is a great way to stay connected. Also, the more activity and interaction on your page, the more people around will get to know that you are present on facebook with a live and active page.
3. Don’t Ignore The Facebook Connections – “Friends Of Friends”
The reach of facebook is much greater because of the basic structure that each person is connected to 100 other people. So, if he likes your product or service and talks about it, there is at least a 10% audience that can be influenced. As per statistics, there are 130 people on an average, in an individual’s friend list. Your aim should be to reach out to them.
This can be done with simple contests. “Add more friends to the group and get…” or “Get more people to like the page and win …” and various other such activities. The more groups of people joining your page, the more prospective clients you are gathering!
Also, you could add to this, rewards of appreciation to all those people who are connected. This adds a personal touch and works to win more people over.
Also, while building connections, be approachable. When people ask questions, be prompt to reply. Find answers and respond and be polite. You’ll always have critics but there’s point in getting into virtual fist fights! At the end of the day, you have an image to carry.
Moreover, another factor is, don’t keep deleting things that are unpleasant. Let your page hold criticism also so that people know that you are real. Everyone knows that there will always be people who will critique your work. Let your page hold that as well. Of course, abusive content and spam need to be eliminated, but besides that, make your page a healthy zone for discussion.
4. Stay In Touch … Even With Strangers!
It’s only in the real world that we keep in touch only with real friends. but on the virtual front, as long as somebody has given you their e-mail id or phone number, it’s a green signal to keep in touch. Now, this does not mean you spam them or give them purposeless calls; this only means that you should keep in touch with people who have shown interest in your work. Thank you notes and season greeting messages are a good way to stay connected. They re-enforce that you value relationships and help build associations, even where there are none.
5. Connect Your Blog To Your Facebook Page
With a decent amount of SEO, you are likely to get a good number of readers on your blog (of course, the content needs to be good). But even otherwise, it’s important to keep your worlds connected. Connect your blog to your facebook page and keeps the live action happening. This doesn’t really mean you send you hard earned traffic from the blog to facebook pages and distract them; it just means you bridge the gaps to allow more people to join you; yes – by that I mean the prospective

I’ve lost a lot because of my skepticism about the Facebook((
Facebook is certainly a good way to do this….but using friends and all is advisable in opinion…if using adsense google panda does count ad clicks by your friends..

ya agree with that. Facebook is a such a fantastic medium for increase real time traffic.
I am still trying to get my head around how to best use Facebook for marketing my law practice. The big challenge for me is balancing confidentialities with the “openness” of the social media world. Still, I agree with point #4. It is not enough to connect with others; the communication must be consistent.
Very true..FB gives you more business but if only done wisely. I agree your points but not everyone can do business in FB. I started FB for business but ended up in making friends and giveup the business. We can do business in FB as suggested by you..overall we need a great confident to look into it as a business.
