In this post I will tell you how to deal with those who copy your content and post it in their site or their blog.
In today’s world of spammers and greediness there are great chances that your content is copied or reproduced with only a few minor changes and it is posted in some other website or a blog. Some can bear this problem if a link back to the original article in your site is given. This problem becomes unbearable when the full post of yours is republished in other website without a link back. This problems becomes even worse when that duplicate page ranks better than yours original page in search engine ranks. What to do in such situations?
Remember These Things:-
- Do not panic.
- Do not get angry.
- Do not get over excited and directly move to the court. Moving to the court is a foolish thing.
Sometimes such problems can be solved easily. There is nothing to worry about.
Method 1:-
Visit their website and try finding their e-mail address. If you aren’t able to find an e-mail address, there might be a contact page in their site. Try contacting them through it. If it does not too exist search for that sites details in WhoIs. There are many chances that these sites might not also have a proper WhoIs details or they might have protected their details. Contact WhoIs administrators or support and ask them to give the contact details of the website owner that has copied your content. Do not forget to mention why do you want the details when you contact WhoIs administrators or support.
Contact them through the details you get. Be calm. Begin always with a warning. Ask them to kindly remove your copied post from their site. Stay calm. Don’t show your anger on them by using obtrusive words. Many of these copiers agree to you and remove that post from their site. You’re done.
There are still some who don’t listen to you and instead fight back blaming yourself. For them follow the below given method 2.
Method 2:-
To those who still don’t agree to you or do not reply to you another way is to complaint to Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Please make sure that you use this method after you have used the first method and you didn’t succeed. Complaint at the DMCA or find the details of the web host at which the site that has copied your content is hosted using WhoIs and contact the webhost of the site. A simple e-mail will not do. You have to follow a specific and a detailed pattern. Some important steps need to be followed while complaining to DMCA or the web host.
You can also inform Adsense and other advertisers of that site and complaint about the illegal things i.e. copying your content that site has done. These advertisers like Adsense are owned by good companies and are respected. They do not want to show their ads on illegal sites and lose their respect. They will surely take action against your complaint and will stop displaying ads on that site. Thus all income of that site will go and the owner will probably have to surrender.
Please remember this is my personal advice. Please do not consider anything in this post as a legal advice. If you need copyright related legal advice, please consult a specialized attorney or a lawyer which will further help you in this matter.

is it possible to markwater our post? It will really helpful if we can do that.
I don’t think this is possible unless you post your posts as an image. You can alternatively add copyright notices in your posts in middle of the posts. This can really help. Watermarking is used to protect images and videos. There is a wordpress plugin called WP-CopyRightPro for Wordpress that disables right click on your blog and has many more features in it. May be this helps your needs to protect your content.
I see this happen a lot. I sometimes use other peoples posts as a reference if I am writing about the same thing but I never straight out copy someones work. It is distasteful and unoriginal to do such a thing.
There is nothing wrong in taking references as long as you do not copy others content. I myself take some references as a result I can give some related links.
Yes, once i saw copied content of my old post. He don’t even changed my link in my blog.
I guess you should try the method 2 I have said. It will help you.
