Hi friends! Welcome again to Blogging Junction. Today as usual I am back with a totally new post.
Every blogger in order to develop his blog further needs to have a domain “.com, .net” for his blog. Actually this is a must as it also protects the brand name of the blog. Suppose if you have a “games.blogspot.com” blog. And you get good traffic in it as well as the profits and revenue you get from it are more.
And suppose if someone of your competitor registers “games.com or games.net” you can lose all your hard gained traffic and constantly you an use all your profits. So in order to do this you need to protect your brand name by having a domain for it.
There are almost innumerable services available on the web which allows you to register domains.
1.) Yahoo Domains
When I started my first website I registered it through Yahoo
domains. Actually at that time when I searched Google for registering domains this one was the first link and I with seeing Yahoo! went in it. The site interface is really really good in Yahoo Domains. The rates are also cheap. Just $ 9.95 / year. Also you can get a domain for free if you buy hosting. Yahoo + Hosting = Free Domain. That’s the formula for getting free domains.
It also offers Complete domain features like Domain Forwarding and Complete DNS controls. Its not something new as these services are also offered by other domain registrars. But the quality depends. As per the name “Yahoo” suggests the service given by them will also make you do Yahoo!
2.) Register.Com

Its the nest good one. Service is good but prices here are quite high. $35 per year for a domain. But per year prices decrease as you register your domain directly for large number of years. Its a good and a reputed firm. I haven’t used it though, many bloggers recommended it to me. But as the prices are quite too high, I couldn’t afford buying a domain through it.
3.) Go Daddy

We are now to the most popular domain registering and website related services. Services here range from hosting to domain registration as well as many other services. When I was about to register Blogging Junction one of my friend suggested Go Daddy as he had his website built from that site. He told me that he was really happy to use Go Daddy and will continue to use it.
Without a second thought I went to his site and then to Go Daddy and came to know that he was not wrong. Go Daddy was a good service. All the interface is a little too complicated but its not that hard to use that you will not be able to manage Go Daddy.
So rush now to Go Daddy! Go Daddy Go! Go Daddy Go!

I use go daddy for all of my domain and there are no problem until now.
Go Daddy s a good service and perhaps the most popular too…
I think Godaddy should be in the top position..
Oh Really….? But I felt Yahoo is better… I will place GoDaddy in the first position in my future posts as many have told me GoDaddy is better.
I like GoDaddy Domain Registration services…
Its a good service! Many have recommended it to me.
Godaddy’s web interface is beyond horrid. If you value your sanity, use something else.
Thanks for the informative comment! I will keep this in mind if ever I plan of using GoDaddy.
I use GoDaddy as my registrar…I don’t find the interface too confusing, but then I only need to access it occasionally. Usually only when I need to renew.
I think Godaddy should be in the top position..

Many have suggested that to me! But my opinion was different!
I think godaay is the most popular domain registering company with a low price.

No I think. It might be the best according to some, but certainly not the cheapest.
Namecheap is better domain registrar than Godaddy although Godaddy offers many discount, NameCheap gives free privacy protect with every domain system

I will have to try Namecheap it seems from your comment. I will try it when I register my next domain.
I always buy domain from Indian registrars; I prefer Rediff.com’s service (they get domains registered from Network Solutions). Though the domain control panel is not good at all, but Rediff’s service impressed me. They pickup cheque from my doorstep, they bear the cost of courier.
Which is the cheapest webhosting in India? I’m using a web host for last 1.5 yrs, not bad, they’re charging me Rs. 50 per month. Site uptime is good, I monitor the host, down time is roughly 4-6 mins per week. 1250GB space (I’ll never require that much space in my lifetime), 100db, bandwidth unlimited…. Is there any other host cheaper than Rs.50 per month? I wanted to take the Yahoo hosting, but they shot up the price from Rs. 1999 to Rs. 2999 but their servers are in India, so ping speed is roughly around 32ms only – super fast if site is targeted for Indian people.

I’ve never tried Indian registrars. I prefer foreign ones as they are usually cheap and also provide good service. In my research I’ve found that Indian registrars and hosting services charge a lot of amount! I’ve heard about Rediff in the past, bu I haven’t tried it. I will look into it now itself as I’m yet to renew my hosting! Can you please provide me the link to plan you are using at Rediff? I can’t find the specific plan you are using.
Rediff.com sells .com/net/org at Rs. 495/- and since they pay for the courier charges, so practically the price of domain comes down further. I don’t use hosting from Rediff, they’re too costly because of Indian datacenter. But yes, their servers are quite fast. I only buy domains from them and they’re 5th in the INRegistry ranking of Indian registrars.

Which host do you use then? I actually don’t know any hosts offering hosting for less than Rs. 50 a month! There is a host called Dollar2Host offering hosting for $24 per year with unlimited everything! Why not try it if you need hosting?
See webhostingworld.net, their bronze plan is Rs. 600 per year – I purchased their package for a family member. Our family website is hosted on it.

I will have a look at that site. Seems that plans are great!
From what i have found so far – the best service is name.com – i didn’t have any problems with them so far for 2 years. They do charge for whois guards but most services does that.
Second would be namecheap – thought I had some problems with them as well as with netfirms. Netfirms support is also really really slow – it took them 3 days to answer my support ticket.

I will try name.com also for my future domains. Fast support reply is a must. I hate late replies from companies!
I’ve used GoDaddy for all my domains. I’m so used to the interface and everything I couldn’t imagine switching registrars, although I admit I had no idea Yahoo even had a domain registering service. Might have to check it out.
