In the last post in Blogging Junction that was posted yesterday, I gave you some tips to choose a proper title for your post. Did it help? I hope it helped and helps.

There are many sites which have tons of good content and that too original, self written. The posts are very good and so is the site. But there is one problem, no comments! This situation is very upsetting for a blogger, if he keeps on posting good articles and does not get even a comment on his posts. Not even a single one saying “Good post!”. What should you do? How to get comments?

1. Get More Readers - If your site has good content, but it is not known to many people, how can you expect comments. So try attracting users to your site.So to get more readers also try promoting your blog. Promote your blog in Social Bookmarking sites. Like Digg, Stumble upon, Etc. Also join blogging networks. You might gain users from them. Its a little time consuming but it works!

2. Too Time Consuming - Users don’t read the posts, they just skim it. They just go over the post and read only the important points. In some cases they read the full post. A normal user does not stay for over a minute or two in your blog. So make your comment posting easy. Some bloggers have several forms to fill before commenting. First the user has to register in that site. Then verify his e-mail id. Then post the comment. This takes about 5-10 minutes. In this time the user looses the interest he has got to comment. In many cases he won’t comment. So keep it very simple. Just type name, e-mail,comment and go (Post the comment). You may also include the option for the user to add his website or blog. But keep this optional.

3. Type Of The Posts - There are several posts in your blog. But keep it in mind that all of these posts cannot get comments. There are several types of posts that ask the users for their views. For example a review post, you can add in end, was this review helpful?, etc. And some posts give only the information. Such types usually get low number of comments. You can try adding a message to end of the post “Did you like the post? Share your views. Comment!”. You may also create your message.

4. Post Comments In Other Blogs - One way to get comments is to comment yourself. Try posting comments in other blogs. You may add your website in the comment “website field”. Many bloggers in return comment in your blog as thanks for commenting in their blog. They may also become your readers.

5. Be A Little Interactive - You may add some new features in your comments. Just you can give a range of smileys that a user can add just by clicking. You may also attract users to comment by many new features. A feature that I tried was “DRAW COMMENT”. Yes, it was a plugin for wordpress that allowed users to comment in drawing with colours.

6. Reply To The Commenters – Reply to the commenters comment how comments in your post. This way you can have a conversation. Add a “Notify To Comments” button in your comment posting block like the one in bloggingjunction. This wasy a user can subscribe to the comments in your post. This increases conversation and you might get more comments. The author who does not reply to the comments will not get comments. This is the rule. I know, you may not be having the time. But at least reply to some comments.
