Are you looking for an alternate source of website revenue other than affiliates and Google’s AdSense? Then Infolinks may be worth looking into.
What are “Infolinks”?
Simply put, Infolinks are embedded links to keywords in your blog or website articles, and you can even have them in web forum posts. In fact, I first came across Infolinks in use on a web forum where I am a Moderator. At first, I thought it was kind of odd, there were double-underlined words in each post, scattered here & there. When I moved my mouse over one of these underlined words, a min-pop up appeared with a small advertisement.
Here’s an example:

And here’s the pop up from the mouse hover:

Neat, isn’t it? Infolinks sign up is easy and once you are registered, you are taken through a quick setup process to get you started using Infolinks on your site. The double-underline sets Infolinks apart from other hyperlinks you might have in your article. You can have single underlined Infolinks, but they are not recommended since it might confuse your readers. You can even configure the colour of the underlines as well and even where they should or should not appear (for instance, in your header text). There is an advanced integration guide available as well to give you more control over the appearance and frequency of Infolinks as well as the link target category:

So, how does Infolinks perform? Personally, I have been using Infolinks since the end of October 2009 and I am quite pleased. I find I am getting better results than with Google AdSense over the same time period, but as always, ‘your mileage may vary’. I don’t know if my results are typical, but my total earnings for the two-month period are about $30.00US. A blog with higher traffic than mine would/should experience greater results, I would hope.
You can choose several different ways to get your Infolinks earnings: PayPal, Bank Wire, or ACH (Automated Clearing House, just for U.S. accounts). There is even an Infolinks MasterCard that you can apply for.
The minimum threshold for payments is $100 and it is paid monthly. If you don’t earn $100 in a month the total is carried over to the next month.
Hopefully, my personal experience with Infolinks has piqued your interest in this potential source of website revenue, and you can visit the Infolinks site to get more information and get answers in their comprehensive FAQ. Click here to go to Infolinks.com and get started today!

I am honoured to be the first Guest Poster here! Thanks for giving me the opportunity!
You’re welcome James! Your post is really looking nice at Blogging Junction!
Sometimes, infolink link seems distracted. Is it possible to blend well the link in post so do not distract the readers?
It might be possible! You can always limit the ads appearing in each page. Also it can be defined whether links should be single lined or double lined.

You are welcome Shay! Actually it would be great if InfoLinks introduces Adsense like services like ads in 300×250 formats, banners, etc.
Thanks for dropping by, Shay!
Well till now Infolink is not an Adsense alternative as Infolink is not contextual advertising system and that’s why we can use both same time. So, it’s not an alternative, it is just another way you can use with Adsense to maximize your revenue.
But it can also be used without using Adsense at the same time. If used properly, Infolinks can give you more earnings than Adsense.
I yet not able to interact with a single blogger who earn more from Infolinks than Adsense. Do you? Please share the site URL.
I think this blogger earns,
Timon from Buyers Web – http://www.buyers-web.com/infolinks-vs-adsense/
Looking at my December 2009 totals, I made 3X more with Infolinks than I did with Adsense. This past week (January 2010) I made more than I did in the entire month of December 2009 with Adsense!
I’m sure I will earn more in InfoLinks than Adsense someday!
Too bad I am not using them though I’ve an account.. I did make a couple of quick bucks but will re-do it later.. what’s the current cpm they offer? I guess it was around 50cents to 1 dollar last time around.. been an year
Presently it’s $2.5 – $3, I guess. Actually I’m not sure. I saw this in one of the testimonials on their site and also some other sites.
Infolinks is a great website to make money. But the thing is we need to have huge traffic that can provide more impressions.
Yeah, that’s right. After all traffic is necessary in all forms of ad publishing.
I just signed up; I hope they approve my account. Is there a specific criteria for approval?
I don’t believe so, Ms. Freeman. But it would depend on your site’s content, etc.
Nothing special is required for the account approval. You just need to put the code they provide in your theme file. The code informs the InfoLinks team back about your account. If it does so, your account is approved and you will recieve an e-mail from them very soon. It takes about 2 days for approval.
Great info, thanks and happy new year.
Nice to hear that you like the information! Happy New Year to you too!
I put infolinks on a page of my site about 6 months ago just to see how it worked. Then I forgot all about it. I just found out I made $109 from that 1 page, so I’m adding it to all 200+ pages on my site.
It will be interesting to see how it works.
Yeah you will surely earn a big amount from InfoLinks!
I am using kontera and adbrite in my site.Adbrite is better than kontera.
Okay! I had used Adbrite’s banner ads like the ones in Google Adsense. I have never tried pop-up ads which flash when hovered by mouse of AdBrite. I will try it soon. Thanks for the information!
I will correct the head as Infolinks the better Supplement for Adsense, No doubt i am very much happy with infolinks, they are very decent to pay money. Now every month i am getting their payment.
Nice to know that! Even I wanted to change the head of this post, but then the URL and post head will not match. And if I change both the URL and head, it will lessen its SEO value. So I’m not changing anything. BTW, InfoLinks earns you quick than Adsense.
Good thing about Infolinks is that they approve all “appropriate” sites whether it be small or big. But I have received many complaints about it that it is a bit distractive.
Yeah it appears to be distractive some times when there are large number of links and everything is cluttered. Otherwise InfoLinks is quite good!
one question bro …
which is best category to increase earnings.
and my pagectr is decreasing day by day
Thanks

Many people recommend “Make Money Online”, “Travel”, “Health”, Etc. I think there is no specific category, but the number of posts and user reactions and traffic can earn you more. Just optimize your ads.
Thanks for the awesome info ..saksham.:)

You’re welcome bro. Thanks to James Fisher for this great post!
I thought I would post a follow-up to this article since I just received my first payout from Infolinks. For the time period from November 2009 to the end of February 2010 my site made a little under $57.00. Still better than Google Adsense over the same period of time.

Sure bro! You can do a follow up on this article. This will give even more knowledge to the readers!
And about the Page CTR, my help won’t be of much use because I hardly earn anything from Adsense or other networks. Only thing I feel the reason could be that users are losing interest in your site or less post frequency may be the reason.
News ..type is good i learn about that
I had been searching for this kind of site because it really helps me a lot especially about adsense and how to make money online.Finding this kind of blog is so usefull for me.i got lots of idea reading the articles and comments. It really works. Thanks!Goodluck!

Nice to know that you find my blog useful!
I recently found a new program that is an Adsense alternative called, Prosperent. You should look into it as it is very customizable and has a high eCPM. I highly recommend it.
I will try it buddy! Thanks for recommending that to us!
Adgeni.com is a much better adsense alternative with may different feature and services.
Actually I haven’t heard of Adgeni before! Let me have a look at it!
