5 Must Have Tools When You Are Blogging.

While blogging we need many softwares that help us make our posts, blog better. For instance when we are designing our blog template or editing our blog design files, we need many softwares to ease coding. Another example is we need to design some images for our blog. For that we need to have some photo editing softwares with us. There are many tools or softwares we may need while blogging. Lets discuss about them ahead.

five

Must Have Tools When You Are Blogging.

1.) Different Browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Etc.)

Not all people use the same browser. Some use Internet Explorer while some use Firefox. So when you are designing your blog or editing your theme files, make sure you test your blog in all the different browsers so that the design and layout is proper in both.

2.) Text Editor (Notepad, Etc.)

While editing theme files you may need to type HTML code.I use Notepad + is the best tool for writing HTML code. Its very simple tool and very easy to use. It’s a basic tool. If you prefer a HTML editor HTML Kit is a good option.

3.) Image Editor (PhotoShop, Paint, Etc.)

Well I wrote Paint above just for an example. Well I bet no one will use it. But the other one mentioned there is the best image editing tool. The name is PhotoShop! I guess you might have heard that word? PhotoShop is one of the most useful tools present in my computer and that I regularly use. I use it for designing blog images. I use PhotoShop for editing or creating  images for my blog posts.

4.) .PDF Reader (Adobe Reader, Etc.)

Make sure you have Adobe Reader installed in your computer. As a blogger you may have to read a number of e-books or affiliate program agreements, etc. Most of those are in .PDF format. So make sure you have Adobe Reader installed in your computer!

5.) Snagit

One of the most useful tools if you write tutorials or review
products. Snagit helps you take screenshots from your desktop screen. Its the best screenshot taker according to me and many bloggers. It offers the widest variety of options and helps us capture screens easily and in a way we want.

Well the tools given above are my favorites and ones that I use the most. Feel free to share your views on this post and also tell us about softwares you use for blogging.

Great list there Saksham!

I would also Recommend the new dreamweaver cs5 software for manipulating html! ok its $300 but you can get it free for 30 days.

I also use abobe Fireworks in my opinion its a lot better than Photoshop although I do still use PS! Fireworks is great for making now buttons for your blog theme!

Another one I do like for HTML manipulation is Kompozer as its free to use and download. What else…………Hmmmm…………Oh yes every Blogger or future blogger should be a member of clickbank as its Free and its a great way of making money off your blog promoting and reviewing Clickbank products!

I have also written my own Free eBook on how to set up a self hosted wordpress blog like your and mine and is available as a Free download after subscribing on my blog if anyone wants to Critique it for me (Sorry I love plugging my book and hey it is free hope you dont mind)

I would also recommend the Askismet plugin that comes as a default plug in on all wordpress blogs this basically stops all your spam comments! but guys you will need an API Key! to get that you need to create a profile blog/account at http://wordpress.com although its going to be another blog for you! you dont need to use it you just need the API key under the profile tab!

anyway I cannot think of anything else yet but will get back to you! Opps i just thought of another…………………every blogger should have Commentluv and the DoFollow Plugin as well!

hope that helps Saksham! Great post really enjoyed it! All The Best

Snag it seems interesting. It may help to create better tutorial post if compare with the old way, printscreen.

Completely right. Print screen way is very simple but with no features! SnagIt helps us take good quality pictures. SnagIt is an advanced tool.

Snagit is Extremely cool but it is very costly. You are right the above mentioned tools are the basic necessities for blogging. We should have portable version of all these saved in our pen drive

Reply

Saksham Talwar July 4, 2010 at 11:50 AM

Having a portable version is a good idea.

I can not live without Photoshop, Paint, Notepad, Windows Live Writer and Google Chrome. With these tools I can write a thousand posts to my blogs without problem. It is difficult to work without Photoshop to manipulate my images. If it comes to taking screenshots, that’s what we all know the key, but it is a matter of everyone. Thanks for the tips. Greetings!

Snagit is a new tool for me. Is it similar to camtasia studio? I think the latter is the most commonly used by bloggers in their activities online especially when they want to provide tutorials to others.

Reply

Saksham Talwar December 4, 2010 at 10:34 AM

Yeah it is similar to it. :)
