10 Ways To Increase Traffic To Your Blog With Twitter

Twitter provides a great platform through which you can increase your blog traffic.  Many people know this yet they fail to actually take full advantage of it. Here are 10 ways that you can do this without
being viewed as a spammer.

1.) Send out short tips about a topic covered on your blog and include a url to one of the posts.  This is great because people who read your tips will be interested in learning more and many of them will click the link and visit your blog.

2.) Set up your blog posts to automatically post to twitter. You can do this with the wordpress blogging plugin called twitter tools or with the networked blogs application on facebook. The second one posts your blog posts to facebook and then also to twitter.

3.) Look for people who are tweeting about the same topics your blog covers and follow them and then share specific blog posts with them.

4.) Use the twitter search feature at search.twitter.com to located people asking questions about topics related to your blog and then reply back to them by answering their question and referring to a blog
post.

5.) Include your blog url as your website url on your twitter profile and include the link on your twitter profile background.

6.) Convert the content of some of your posts into audio and then share these audios with your followers via the audioboo application. People who may not read your posts, will listen to them.

7.) Do a search for lists on twitter. Find lists that cover topics you also talk about on your blog and then share your blog posts with the people on that list.

8.) Install the tweetmeme button application on your blog to encourage people to share your blog posts on twitter.

9.) Propose a share on twitter exchange with a few other blog owners. You tweet their posts and they tweet yours.

10.) Encourage your blog readers to connect with you on twitter. This increases the likelihood that they will come back and share your
posts.

I really like the article on Twitter suggestions for increasing traffic. The one I haven’t tried yet is converting the article to audio and then tweeting it that way. I can see how you would probably hit an entirely different audience.

In response to the other comment about stumble, I think the two biggest areas to focus on are building connected friends and using relevant/trending tags for submitted posts.

Talwar bro nice post about….Plz tell me how to own blog and how much it cost per year….What is difference between your blog and free blog that make from blogger.Com thanks…

Saksham Talwar August 12, 2010 at 10:13 AM

Difference between my blog and blogger blog is that blogger blog is free, mine is not. I own all of my content and my website can stay online for as long as I desire, but if Blogger decides to shut down its service, everything is gone! In my blog I can do whatever I want i.e. install custom scripts, display advertisements all according to my wish. No one can do anything against me, but that’s not the case with Blogger. To own a blog you can go to any of the domain registrars and register yourself a domain, install Wordpress in your domain and the work is done. A blog + hosting + domain will cost about $50 per year according to the host and plan you choose. Please contact me using the contact form to know some good hosts and domain registrars.

It will cost you at least $7 for the domain name for the entire year and you can renew it before it expires. And about $6.99 per month for hosting, depending with the host that you’ll choose to avail.

Anyway, cool tips Annalaura. I’m not really that good with twitter, but I do know most of its marketing fundamentals. don’t spam and interact with your followers, that alone will take your campaign a long way :)

Regards,
Jason

It looks like you really know how to use Twitter to your advantage. I have been really skeptical of using it. It seems to me that it has just been totally overrun with spam. I honestly never thought it would remain as popular as it has for this long. You are inspiring me to give it another chance.

I dread having to use Twitter for online marketing. But thanks for the tip about sharing audio. I think that’s a feature worth exploring.

I hate to admit, but one way that I’ve managed to generate more traffic from Twitter involves two steps. First, twitter hashtags are extremely valuable. Even a twitter account with few followers can generate traffic with hashtags.

Second, using a few different Twitter accounts helps to. Basically, you set up three or four Twitter accounts. Then you grab a custom background from a site like Twitter backgrounds since it’s quick. Add a logo, then configure the extra accounts to autofollow with Social Oomph.

After that, you use Twitter feed and add these blogs to retweet your posts. You can then use add the extra accounts to Hootsuite. You can schedule a bunch of Tweets each day using a variety of different hashtags for all of your accounts in one easy step.

Making more friends in our niche will obviously result in more retweets which in turn bring more traffic to our blog.

I’ve actually never thought of the strategy in number 9. It makes sense though. Partnering up with another blogger works great so why not partner with other Twitter users?

Even your idea is great! It will help us get more twitter traffic.

Thanks for the list friend. I have tried a lot of things to increase Twitter visitors for my previous sites, but no luck. Infact, I got good response from facebook instead.
Will try my efforts again on Twitter. Thanks for raising my hopes again.
